Our Story:![]() We are a family consisting of my husband, 4 kids, our dogs Mika, Brooke and myself. Having grown up in Switzerland, I have fond memories of train journeys through the beautiful landscape of mountains and green rolling hills, dotted with charming rustic farms, roaming dairy cows that could be heard in the distance by the sound of their large bells and yes... the majestic Bernese Mountain Dog working with the farmer, playing with children or snoozing in the grass.
In Switzerland we are very proud of the quality of goods we produce: the best cheese, chocolate, watches, and dogs! Our family has loved this adventure of breeding Berners. Mika has had two healthy litters and is now retired. We have kept Brooke from the first litter, and has already given us two wonderful healthy litters. She is the ultimate sweet and gorgeous dog! We can't say enough about her. We have seen so many friends literally overwhelmed with their active dogs, feeling daily guilt of not providing the activity level that their pets need. Some of them ended up finding other homes for their dog, some are confining their dogs to enclosed "kennels" or "dog runs" and too many of these common dog breeds end up at the humane society. We hope to raise an awareness of the wonderful Bernese Mountain Dog as having the potential of being THE perfect companion dog! Mika and Brooke have blessed our life and we wish to share this with others. |
Our View:![]() At Swiss Berners, we believe Bernese Mountain Dogs to be the best dogs ever! It was said in one source that Bernese Mountain Dogs are disputably the best family dog out there, but because of their relative late appearance in the United States, they are still a very much undiscovered "wonder-dog" breed. We hope to raise an awareness of these fantastic Berners we are so passionate about. Our Brooke is truly part of our family and never ceases to amaze and amuse us. She has the temperament, health clearances and conformation that convinced us to pass her good genes on.
We are not a kennel. Brooke is primarily our pet and companion. She has 4 acres to run and play on, and spends the majority of her time with us in the house. Her puppies are entitled to the same caring surroundings. They are loved and socialized from day one. Socialization is one of the most important steps to ensure that puppies can grow up to be confident, intelligent and gentle. Your puppy will be exposed to a wide variety of possibly stressful situations like children, startling noises, bikes, strollers or other “wheels”, adults with or without hats, collars and leads, tactile stimulation, short car rides around the block, cats, etc. They will also be tested on criteria including social attraction, following, restraint, social dominance, touch/sound/sight sensitivity, stability, etc to ensure the best possible placement with your unique lifestyle. You can come and visit us anytime or just contact us by phone or email. We’ll be happy to answer any question you might have. We look forward to meeting and providing you with your next family companion: a cute little bear cub destined to become a gentle giant. |
